Pink Floyd's Remastered Discovery Box Set

Pink Floyd's Discovery box set is set to be released on September 27, 2011. It includes all fourteen of their studio albums from 1967's The Piper at the Gates of Dawn all the way through 1994's The Division Bell.

All fourteen of these albums will sound like never before because they've all been digitally remastered.

After the great success of The Beatles remastered CDs in 2009 (which almost all fans agree sound far better than their older CDs) there is a anticipation to hear what these new Pink Floyd remasters sound like.

Along with the music itself, the box set also includes an exclusive artwork booklet designed by the band's long time collaborator Storm Thorgerson.

While just about every Pink Floyd fan is familiar with The Wall and The Dark Side of the Moon and most are familiar with Wish You Were Here there are many more great albums from this band that casual fans may not have heard before (remastered or not) and for those fans this really will be a "discovery."

In particular The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Meddle, and Animals are all worthy of being "discovered." These are fantastic albums which may not have quite the mass appeal that the band's most famous albums have but which are just as rewarding to the ears of a serious music lover.

Admittedly; some of their albums are not as good as others but they are all an interesting part of the complete Floyd story.

Immersion Box Sets

The band's three biggest selling albums (The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, & The Wall) are getting special treatment in the form of "Immersion" box sets. Each of these multi-disc sets include live recordings (both audio and video), alternate versions of the songs, alternate mixes of the albums (including surround sound), and lots of fun extras such as coasters and a scarf (you can't download a scarf!)

The Dark Side of the Moon Immersion is being released on the same day as the Discovery box set but Wish You Were Here Immersion isn't out until November and The Wall's isn't out until February of 2012!

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn

Personally I wish there was an "Immersion" for The Piper at the Gates of Dawn too but I realize that the original Pink Floyd sound (with Syd Barrett as lead songwriter, guitarist, & singer) does not appeal to as big of an audience.

The Discovery Box Set and the Immersion Box Sets can be ordered online.
