Know About Various Forms and Explore Your Dancing Skills

Dancing is an elegant form of performing arts which involves graceful body movements and artistic expressions. Artists keep on experimenting with different dancing styles to make it more expressive and beautiful.

One specific style which has universal appeal is Latin dance style. Known for its sensuality and sexy flair, this specific dancing form is gaining popularity on dancing floors nowadays. It can be said that several different styles have been incorporated in the Latin style of dancing to make it more appealing and attractive. This style can be categorized into two different categories:-

Some popular styles are originated from Latin America. These can be referred to as Latin dances. On the other hand, International Latin is that category which refers to International Style Ballroom dancing. This article will highlight on some very common and widely used Latin style dancing like Cha-Cha-Cha, Salsa, Samba, Bachata, Mambo and Merengue.

Salsa - can be considered most widely accepted and practiced Latin style which incorporates both Caribbean and African flavors. Like most Latin dances, this one also demands participation of a couple. You can experience most amazing footwork and elegant movement as the performance unfolds. It is generally danced to basic 4-beat music and has 2 quick steps followed by a pause and then a slow stepping.

Cha-Cha-Cha - is the style which is originated in Cuba. It is also performed between couples and has a 3-step motion. While one partner moves 3 steps forward, the other moves 3 steps back. Then again the movement is repeated sideways. All these stepping are counted by words 'Cha Cha Cha', thus giving its name.

Samba - the name itself signifies its place of origin, i.e. Brazil. This dancing style is more about executing steps perfectly than movement of arms and legs in particular fashion. If we think of most graceful Latin dance styles, Samba occupies the top position. In this style, the dancer needs to have bouncing motion and not mechanical steps.

Bachata - is the style which has very similar to Cha Cha Cha, in its 3 sideward steps. However, it differs slightly due to the prolonged pause at the end of the dance. It has originated from Dominican Republic.

It should be remembered that Latin styles are special and distinct because of its gracefulness. A little twirl, a quick step, a passionate movement, all should come naturally from dancers. As a performer, you need to convey the right mood and fun element and sensuality. This is the reason that these dancing styles are catching the fancy of people worldwide. Wedding Music - What Are the Various Types You'll Need?

Planning your wedding music can be a huge exercise because this has to be done with a great deal of care. Your guests will definitely judge the arrangements based upon the kind of music that is played because it has the ability to set the tone for the entire event. Your task will be made more difficult because of the fact that you need to arrange for musical accompaniment for every stage of the wedding. You cannot have blanks in the background music for the periods when there are breaks in the ceremony because it will sound really odd.

You will need to start with the Prelude which is to be played when guests arrive at the church and get seated. Most people hire a pianist or harpist to provide soft instrumental music for this period. You could hire a string quartet if you want something more elaborate. A soloist is a very dramatic option, but some people opt for that as well.

You will then need to organize musical accompaniment for the Processional which is when the wedding party enters the church and takes up their positions for the ceremony. The wedding music you select here is very important because this is an eagerly awaited part of the ceremony. You can organize instrumental music for when the bridesmaids enter followed by a fanfare and a more dramatic piece for when the bride makes her appearance.

You will also need to play hymns during the wedding ceremony. Depending on your church, these hymns will be sung by the congregation or the choir or both. You might need to provide guests with a wedding program that has the hymns printed on it. You need to be aware of any copyright issues before you do this so that you do not get into any type of trouble.

Once the ceremony is over and the happy couple walks back down the aisle, the Recessional is played. The wedding music played here is usually very upbeat. You will have to follow this up with instrumental light music as the guests are ushered out of the venue. Make sure that this last portion is not too loud because people will want to converse with each other and also convey their best wishes to the couple and members of their family.

You will also need lots of music for the reception that follows because there is usually a lot of dancing. There will be the couple's dance followed by the father-daughter dance and the mother-son dance. The music will all have to suit each occasion perfectly and should also be made to blend seamlessly from one to another. There are a huge number of traditional and pop tunes you could select from. Just make sure that the songs you choose are appropriate for the ceremony and also that they are the right length. It would be a great pity if people got bored because of the length of the wedding music that you played during your ceremony.
