Find Out the Value of Old Vinyl Records

Did you know that some old vinyl records could be very valuable? Do you have a collection of records packed up somewhere in your basement or attic? If you no longer listen to them, why not find how much they're worth? It may take some time and a little work but who knows, they could bring in some extra cash and in some cases, a lot of cash. There are many people out there interested in old records and they're willing to pay for them especially if they're in good condition.

Here are a few suggestions that can help you find out the value of old vinyl records:

· Pull out your collection and check them for damage, then separate them according to condition. This will include poor, fair, good and excellent. Eliminate anything in poor condition because these will most likely not be worth anything.

· Separate them into different genres such as comedy, jazz, country, rock, classical and so forth. This will be a big factor in determine their value.

· Separate the records that are in their original jackets and lay these aside. If you don't have the jacket for some of your records, this doesn't necessarily mean they're worthless but it will lower their value.

· Make a list of your records by recording the name of the album and the artist who recorded them.

· Begin researching the vinyl records that you have. This is an important step because supply and demand is one of the main factors that determine the value of records. A rare album in good condition can be worth more than one that is easily found in mint condition.

· Look for albums online to determine the price that other dealers are selling them for and this will help you get an idea of how much they're actually worth.

The value of old vinyl records will also depend on things like, if the album is an original or a remake and on the popularity of the artist. Someone who made a huge impression on the music industry such as Jimmy Buffett, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and The Rolling Stones, will be more valuable than albums created by someone barely known.

Other factors that determine the worth of records include limited edition albums and the type of vinyl used to make them. The cheaper vinyl will not be as valuable as the ones made from virgin or good grade vinyl. Once you learn the value of the old vinyl records that you have packed away or at least an idea of their worth, you can arrange to put them up for sale.
