Also, singing along with those kind of formless melodies is the best way to call upon the spiritual nature in every mother.

There are different forks in Hindu music, called gharanas, with different schools. There are six different ways of playing the tabla, for example, and several sitar gharanas as well. Although many prefer to stick with classic oriental music and composition, the quite recent mix of jazz with Indian instruments opened the door to new and beautiful music production.

Listen To Rap Beats - The Art Of Picking The Perfect Beat

Ahhhhh, the never-ending hunt for the perfect beat. You know as crazy as this is going to sound, your most likely not ever gonna find the perfect beat. This is really only because after hearing it over and over your gonna get tired of it and then the never-ending hunt for the mysterious perfect beat starts all over again.

Where the art of picking comes in, is in the first few times you hear the beat. The beat has to hit you where your like "ooo snap hold up this one right here..." This is critical right here. If it doesn't absolutely scream at you like "you need to use me!", then you shouldn't write to it.

It's something that can't really be put into words, but it's more like a feeling you get. It's very hard to explain but you'll know it when you feel it. It's similar to when you hear a new song and your like "oh this is my jammmm!"

When your picking beats it's not absolutely NECESSARY for it to be the best quality as far as mixing goes. But as long as the beat is laid out right and your REALLY feelin' it then it can be turned into a hit plain and simple.

Other Things To Listen For

1) Catchy melodies - The reason you want catchy melodies should be pretty obvious because If someone can remember the melody then they'll repeat it in there head and it will cause them to like the song.

If your not sure whether the melody is catchy or not simply see if you can easily hum along to it. If you have no problem humming or whistling along to it then you've most likely got yourself a catchy melody.

2) Bangin' drums - While this isn't necessary for every song, most of the time what gives the beat a hip hop or rap feel is the drums. If they're not hitting hard and making your head nod with the stanky face on it, then they better have one hell of a melody to make up for it. But seriously those drums have GOT to hit hard.

3) Good sound choice - A lot of the times beginner producers will throw sounds on top of sounds that sound terrible and just make no sense together. Usually you can spot this because the melodies will be very hard to listen to, it will sound like 2 different songs playing at once. The sounds they choose and the key they place the sounds in is very important, all the sounds need to blend together.

Reel Big Fish Albums - Which Should You Listen To?

In the 90's, Reel Big Fish was without a doubt one of the most well known ska bands in the biz. Their high intensity shows and catchy music set the bar for most bands out there. They were turning out albums like every other struggling musician, but their big break came when they appeared in the movie Baseketball with Matt Stone and Trey Parker, where they performed "Take On Me."

I grew up listening to Reel Big Fish albums, and it was their music that turned me on to Ska. Being the geeky band kid playing the saxophone in high school was not my ideal social path, but this music allowed me to "rebel" against the stereotypical assumptions that come with playing a classical instrument, and put a somewhat cooler spin on my reputation.

Enough about me, though, when it comes to which Reel Big Fish albums you should listen to, here's a quick run down of my two personal favorites:

1. Everything Sucks (1995, re-released in 2000)

The bands first full length album and an essential for any ska-lover. Yes, the quality of some of the recordings are lack luster, but they make up for it with their intricate horn lines and (to say the least) aggressive lyrics. Even though it is not their best stuff and was written when the band was still maturing, it gives you insight into their personality and how f***ing crazy they were. A must listen to!

2. Why Do They Rock So Hard? (1998)

It is Reel Big Fish's second ska album and third full length. You can tell they grew not only in their musical talents, but they obviously had a good producer behind them. It is personally up there as my #1 because it is amazing how they stayed consistent with their image after all those years and kept my head banging the whole time. Favorite track: "I Want Your Girlfriend To Be My Girlfriend."

People often argue that there are much better ska bands out there, and maybe there are. But Reel Big Fish did it for me. They pretty much defined my high school years, and there's no denying that when "Beer" comes on the radio, or your iPod, or wherever...you still sing along too!

Whether you agree with my picks for the top Reel Big Fish albums or not, there is no disputing that they set the bar for the ska bands that came after them.
